Next door across town

Another ATV news boo-boo - tonight they described Chelsea Football Club's victory over "cross-town rivals" Fulham. Not cross-town rivals - that would be Spurs, Arsenal or West Ham. Look at the map and you'll see that Chelsea and Fulham are practically next=door neighbours.

Nice spot PB. The North London derby is always Spurs and the Gunners, but no one describes other London fixtures as derbies (unless, that is, you’re Arsene Wenger!).

Looking at Hong Kong football, there are no derbies to speak of here either. Hong Kong is really a one-club town … South China Athletics Association. Can’t really picture SCAA vs Tuen Mun being a rivalrous Hong Kong derby!
